The Selection Process

The scholarship committee makes the selections at the end of September in the fall and at the end of February in the spring semester. The committee consists of a counselor from each college center, the registrar, the financial aid administrator, a president's office representative, the Student Services Committee Chairperson and a nursing staff representative.

After the applications are submitted by the students, the financial aid office screens the applications. A needs analysis is filled out for every student with complete applications. ALL incomplete applications are eliminated. If the student is on financial aid suspension, default, did not complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has an incomplete FAFSA or has no financial need the Financial Aid office eliminates the student from the selection process.

The registrar's office then reviews the applications and lists each studen's current credit hours, cumulative grade point average (GPA), cumulative hours completed and checks for a degree of Indian blood (DIB) on file. If the student's GPA is below 2.00, the application is eliminated as this is the minimum GPA to be considered for an OLC Scholarship.

Each student may receive up to $1,000 in scholarships per semester.
