Discussion/Conclusion

The current budget was given to faculty for review.  Michelle reports the budget to be in good shape.

Laurie has several suggestions for building security in light of recent thefts.  These include but are not limited to:

set a wireless doorbell to hear people come in; have all visitors sign in; close doors into rooms; rekey some of the rooms.

Linda and Sharon bring concerns about the RCRH ICU experience.  There was a mix up in times for one clinical group causing them to be late and an incident involving a student leaving clinical early because she didn’t get a lunch break. Another student felt abandoned by the preceptor. Should students have increased supervision or a faculty facilitator?

Fall orientation will be Aug 20, 0900 am. We will work on an agenda and a schedule for finger printing.

Most of the level 2s are OK with their CPR.  Laurie handed out dates Gerry Shangreux is teaching CPR classes which we will make available to incoming and current students.

Michelle suggests that students having admission deficiencies will have their names written on the white board.  Faculty like this approach.

Michelle reports that Stephanie Orth feels that we may not be put on probation this year but instead be given a chance to present a plan for improvement that would bring our NCLEX pass rate up to the standard.

Dawn requests faculty will come back extra duty May 19-21 for training and meetings.

Michelle reminds us to complete and submit the fsse deliverered by e-mail.

We will be administering ATI exit test and predictors.  Faculty ask that Tammy Dutton visit again in the Fall to review the ATI products.

One student has not come to class for 3 weeks and has not responded to concerned phone calls or e-mails made by the department and Pine Ridge Collage Center to determine her status.

Actions

March minutes were unanimously approved

Continue to do an excellent job managing the budget.

Michelle took Laurie’s list and will explore suggestions for improved security.

Michelle suggests contacting Debbie Morello to discuss issues related to our student’s experience. We will give our students better instructions about packing lunches or snacks and make sure students have clear information about clinical start times.

Michelle will contact Alsie about possible appointment times.

Supply student will IHS hospital CPR class schedule.

Students who do not complete their admission information will be listed on the white board and their name removed when they correct their deficiencies.

We will await the Board’s decision. We have a plan for improvement that we will articulate to the State Board if asked.

Faculty will consider their schedules and relate their intentions to Michelle.

Faculty will do the survey.

Michelle will contact Tammy Dutton. Faculty will administer tests.

We will continue efforts to contact student; she has collected 3 consecutive absences and will likely be dropped by the registrar soon.
