November 18, 2010 Gerard Baker, former National Park Superintendent at Little Big Horn Battlefield and Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Mr. Baker spoke about how his Mandan/Hidatsa ancestors and our Lakota ancesters lived self-sufficiently prior to contact with Europeans. He also spoke about his lengthy career in the National Park Service and urged the audience of students to complete their educations and pursue careers in the Park Service. In doing so they could help bring a balance to the interpretation of history at national parks across the country. At the end of Baker's presentation Instructor Marcel Bull Bear asked the audience to shake Mr. Baker's hand and thank him for talking with us. Marcel then sang an honoring song for Baker..
